How to refer…

Mothers can self-refer themselves to Shine, but often they come to us via health visitors and doctors. Please find details below of how to refer below.

Creative Therapy Course

We accept referrals for mothers experiencing anxiety and depression during pregnancy and up to two years after birth. Referrals can come directly from the mother, or from a relative or healthcare professional with the mother’s consent. To refer, simply contact us via email or phone. All details on our Contact Us page.

We have courses in Cirencester, Dursley and Swindon - and mothers will be referred to the most suitable location for them. We accept up to nine mothers on each course, which means there is sometimes a waiting list, but we do everything we can do accommodate mothers as soon as we can, because we know how important it is for them to get some support.

For those waiting to start a course, there are two other services that we offer: our weekly ‘drop in’ sessions and our Facebook support group.

Weekly Drop-Ins

Any mother experiencing postnatal depression, anxiety or general low mood is welcome to attend our weekly Shine Drop Ins - friendly, welcoming support groups that offer a judgement-free environment, hot drinks and a snack, and time with other mothers going through similar. This service is available for all members of the Shine community: new referrals, mums waiting to start a course, mums part way through a course, and for those who have finished their course and would still like the company and peer support that Shine can provide.

You can find details of all our locations and times on our Weekly Sessions pages.

Facebook Group

Our closed Facebook group is a vital source of support, guidance, advice and friendship. Any mum new to Shine will be added to this group and can benefit from sharing their experiences with other women who understand. The group is administrated by Shine founder Lauraine Cheesman, meaning all conversations are confidential but that we can intervene if we are worried about the health and wellbeing of any of our members. Please contact Lauraine for more information.
